The short version
Found an error? Email corrections@lemonlawatlas.com. We acknowledge within 72 hours. A credible report that a published answer may be wrong suspends that answer to "Research pending" while we re-verify against the primary source. Attorney listing corrections and removals are handled within 72 hours. If a decision record here carries personal detail our privacy rules say it should not, removal is immediate on confirmation, no reason required.
How to report an error
Email corrections@lemonlawatlas.com, or write to Lemon Law Atlas, PO Box 203, Larkspur, CO 80118. Say which page, what you believe is wrong, and, if you have it, the primary source that shows it: a statute citation, an agency document, a bar record. You do not need the source to report; we will do the verification either way. Bluntness is welcome, and no error is too small: a wrong cross-reference matters on a site people use for deadlines.
What happens, and how fast
- Within 72 hours: we acknowledge the report.
- Triage: reports are sorted into typos and presentation errors; citation and link errors; and reports that a published legal answer may be wrong. Reports claiming the law itself has changed are handled under our legal-change escalation procedure, with one bias: when in doubt, treat the report as answer-changing.
- Answer-changing reports: if the report is credible, the affected fact is demoted to "Research pending" within two business days while we re-verify against the primary source. It returns as an answer only after clearing the two-pass check again, from the beginning, with the reported problem in front of both passes.
- Citation, link, typo fixes: corrected within 7 days, usually much faster.
What a correction changes on the page
The fact is fixed, the last-verified date is refreshed, and for corrections that changed a published answer, the page notes what changed. We do not silently rewrite history: the repository behind the site keeps every prior version, and the quarterly quality report counts corrections received, confirmed, and resolved against these timelines, including the ones we missed.
Attorney listings: correction and removal
If your listing carries a wrong detail (name, location, license-status date, practice description), email from your firm and we correct it within 72 hours. If you want your listing removed entirely, say so; removal is honored within 72 hours, no reason needed, and the roster's refresh process re-applies the removal automatically so a later data refresh cannot resurrect the entry. A removed firm can ask to be relisted at any time.
People named in source records
Decision records on this site are derived from documents a state has published, and our rules already exclude consumer names, addresses, vehicle identification numbers, and narrative allegations. If a derived record here nonetheless lets you identify yourself and you want it changed, email corrections@lemonlawatlas.com: on confirmation we remove or further redact the record within 72 hours, no reason required. We cannot remove the state's own published document, but we control what this site republishes, and we err on the side of the person named.
Errors in sponsored content
Sponsored placements are held to the copy standards in the advertising policy. A report that sponsor copy is deceptive or breaks those standards is treated as a correction against us, not the sponsor: we verify, and copy that fails the standard is pulled until fixed.
